Weekly Review: Plans Change

Another week of changed plans, not too good for this OCD, list making girl. Our plans were to go to Legoland as this week was homeschool week, and we would be able to get a discount.  Plans changed with a sick baby (and then sick mama). Eli is not "good" at being sick.  He is downright pathetic. Definitely made life pretty hard for all of us especially with me not feeling well.  So we didn't do much at all this week.

The girls got to play a lot of Lego games with Daddy. If you haven't played any of the Lego games you should.  There are several little ones that are quick and easy for little ones.  Some of the girls favorites are Wild Wool, Robo Champ, and Frog Rush.  I am sure as they get older they will prefer the bigger games.

They had lots of fun playing with the little breakable horses too.

We made some pretty Stained "Glass" Horses too!

We also made frost (post to come)!

And they did quite a bit of reading.  Both girls finished their book charts for a second time! I am thinking if they are going to complete it so quickly I am going to have to find another way to reward them to keep me from going broke buying new books all the time!

Eli was doing better Thursday and Friday, so we went ahead and went to gymnastics.  It was probably too much for us to do even though it was just an hour of time; because I was exhausted on Friday!

Eli was pretty normal Saturday other then coughing and snot. He was back to acting like his crazy self and shoveling handfuls of popcorn in his mouth! (He loves popcorn!)

I was still pretty tired, but this morning I am feeling a lot better.  Still coughing though.  And new plans have been made for Legoland, so hopefully those work out!

Weekly Review: Skating Party

This week started with a skating party and ended with one as well!

Sunday was Bria's first 4H skating party! We all got to go though.  There were sooooo many kids there, and the girls were both a little shy about skating with everyone else.  They did skate on their own a little, but preferred to hold onto Daddy's (or occasionally my) hand.  Eli really enjoyed the few times I skated around the rink holding him.  Otherwise he was content to try to escape whoever was watching him and munch on Chex mix.

We did have to do some work in the middle of the week.  We made Eli's Letter G Sensory Bin.

And the girls got to "play" Garbage Collector.

They also made some art with some "clean" garbage.

In another attempt to freeze bubbles, I made Bouncing Bubbles.

Since it was slightly warmer then it had been, we made our way to the park one day. Bria immediately started picking up acorns insistent that the squirrels in the park were already sleeping, but her squirrels needed them. Nadia collected a little fuzzy thing from a tree that she carried all the way home, and Eli was just happy to slide and swing.

The girls are getting a little better at gymnastics.  They both figured out how to somersault on their own, and they practiced standing on their heads.  (They still need some practice.)

The week started with a roller skating party, but it ended with an ice skating party.  A very shallow pond was completely frozen, so several family members headed out to skate.  The girls were intrigued by the leaves in the ice and tried to pick them all out.

They also got to ride on the trashcan their Uncle Norman was using for support since he has a hurt arm.

Then they got to try out some ice skates themselves. They had some help of course, and then they pushed a chair or a bucket around the ice to sturdy themselves.

The big kids were having fun too!

And when the girls were tired they got rides.

Unfortunately Eli was napping back at the house with everyone else, so he missed out. Probably safer that way anyhow.

I am sure this next week will bring more fun (non-skating) adventures for all three of them! Hopefully it will for the rest of us too; including you!

Weekly Review - Much Better

To say any week around here is busy is really a silly thing at this point because EVERY week is busy! I think that is what happens when you have kids, and it just gets worse as your kids get involved in things, and it gets even worse when you decide to homeschool them! This week was MUCH smoother then last week though!

We finished up the Letter F! The girls were having a bit of trouble with the Bible verse, so we may have to focus on it a bit longer. It was a little long!

The girls were super excited when their new Skippyjon Jones books arrived! These two came with CD's that read to you too; that will be good when Daddy doesn't want to read them! Hopefully now that they have completed their reading chart once, they will be more confident in reading! After all,  new book for every 20 you read in is a pretty good deal!

We also had a marathon reading day this week where we read the entire book of Beezus and Ramona.  Grandma had recorded the movie, so I wanted the girls to be familiar with the book first.  We had to take a break to paint though.  The girls went back and forth between watercolors and pastels, while Eli enjoyed finger paints.

I tried again this week to get 18 month pictures of Eli.  Yet another FAIL, but we're closer.  Hopefully we can try when Daddy is here to entertain him!

Bria had a 4-H meeting this week, so just me and her went to dinner before the meeting.  I really need to try to spend one on one time with them, so we are starting that now! Either next week or the week after I will try to take Nadia out alone too. We had some extra time after we ate, so we ran by Wal-Mart and found some glow in the dark bubbles. We even got a chance to try them out Saturday!

This was also our second week of gymnastics.  Unfortunately it did not go as smoothly as the first. Bria was in an obstinate mood and refused to do some of the things the teachers tried to get her to do.  Nadia was tired, and had a little breakdown right at the end.  The both got a chance to try out the uneven bars and vault as well as more work on the floor and balance beam.

How Eli occupies himself at gymnastics;
at least while he isn't busy trying to run out on the floor with the girls.

I took Skippyjon Jones to work with me Friday, and neutered and declawed him. The declawed part was for Nathan; I am not a big fan of declawing kitties.  He was quite a nuisance with his claws though!  He did a great job, and has been great since I brought him home.  Guess he isn't a very wimpy kitty.

When Bria had seen the above picture she said that must hurt. So when I got home with him the girls wanted to write on the white board, and this is what they wrote:

After it was dark Saturday we went outside to play with the glowing bubbles we found at Wal-Mart. The solution glowed nicely, but since the bubbles were so thin they did not glow as well.  They glowed well enough for the kids to chase them, but not well enough for my camera to see them. Actually my camera couldn't see anything to focus on, so I guess we are lucky to have any pictures.

Since the bubbles wouldn't glow again, Nathan decided to try and write with some of the solution.  It worked!  The girls and Eli especially had a great time chasing the bubbles; I just wish they were rechargeable!

I hope everyone else had a good week and next week is even better!
