Recent iPad Favorites

It seems like the kid's favorite iPad apps change monthly or so; especially when we find new ones.  I don't buy a lot of apps, so they don't get many new ones unless I find them free! The 10 apps they are most interested in now are listed below!

Tizzy Veterinarian-$1.99-This one is very similar to Toca Doctor, but it has a variety of animals to work on instead of a person.  Nadia prefers this one because she says Toca Doctor scares her (I am not sure why).

Tap the Cat-$2.99-A new app from Reading Eggs that the girls enjoy.  Works on reading and writing skills.

Counting Numbers 1,2,3-$1.99-Count the balloons to make a little hen happy; they love it.  It also has addition and subtraction.

PBS Kids-FREE-I am really surprised how long it took them to discover this app.  The app itself plays current episodes of favorite TV shows on PBS.  Their favorites right now are Daniel Tiger and Curious George.

ABC Mouse Zoo (1, 2, and 3)-FREE-These apps are basically just random facts about various animals in the zoo. I wouldn't have even got it if it hadn't been free, but for some reason they love it!

Robot Workshop-$2.99 -This app is really simple.  All it is, is simple robot puzzles. I think the girls really like the noises it makes as they put them together even though it is really far too simple for them.

Kids Doodle-$.99 -All three kids like this one.  Draw glowing pictures with various brushes. The only annoying thing is you can't choose the color you draw with or the color of the background; that changes on its own.  Some of the tools are cool though!

Broom Broom-FREE-Draw the roads and watch the cars go!  This one is for Eli, although the girls do like watching all the cars stop when a fire engine or ambulance comes zooming through.  There is a version you can pay for if you want to get rid of the ads!

Fisher Price Animal Sounds-FREE -Eli has really been into this and the Fisher Price Counting app.  It is colorful and has a lot of movement, so maybe that is what holds his attention. Shows several different animals along with the sounds they make.

Fisher Price Let's Count Animals-FREE-Another of Eli's current favorites. Very colorful with fun animals to count!

Actually Eli's MOST favorite right now is the BOB books apps I mentioned in my FIRST POST.  He is way too young for them, but on the simplest setting he can play them! Somehow they hold his attention too! More of our previous favorites HERE!

I'm not sure what app Skippyjon Jones likes best!

More iPad Favorites

Well there are always new apps, and the girls definitely have some more favorites! Eli is starting to use them more too since he LOVES the ipad.  He even pushes his sisters out of the way to use it! Like before most of these are free apps because I really don't like buying apps unless they are spectacular!

Toca Doctor- $3.99- We were lucky and found this free sometime last week.  Bria loves it!  Basically you have to fix various problems from dirty teeth to removing splinters to helping burps escape.  Very cute app.

Monkey Drum- FREE- You play a song and the monkey plays it back! You can change instruments and monkeys and such after you earn a certain number of  points.  You can get the extras with in app purchases, but the girls are happy with it as is.

Squiggles- FREE- You draw some squiggles on a picture and then make it move.  If you don't draw squiggles in the right place it doesn't go.  Good for pre-writing skills.  Nadia really likes making squiggles!

Agnitus- FREE- Covers a lot of preschool curriculum like colors, shapes, letters, etc.  Both of my girls like it even though they breeze through it.

123 Color International- $2.99- Another app we were lucky to find when it was free.  It has several pictures you can color by letter or number.  There is also an option to color how you want and it tells you the color you are using. The girls really enjoy this app.

The Adventures of the 7 Wonderlicious Girls- FREE- This is obviously geared towards girls.  It reads them stories about girls who solve problems.  The girls enjoy the stories, and hopefully are picking up some good character traits.

Eggy 100- FREE- Introduces 100 sight words in fun, egg themed games.  They have a version with 250 words that you can buy as well.

Tell Time Lite- FREE- They have a more difficult version you can buy, but we are still working on hours and 30 minutes increments, so this works for us.  The girls enjoy earning new fish!

I Hear Ewe-FREE- One of Eli's favorites! Realistic animal and vehicle sounds when you click the picture.

Xylophone- FREE- Just like the little toy xylophones except on the ipad. Eli is becoming more interested in playing with it.  You can also click the icons at the top and follow along with common songs.

Of course they still like their original favorites too: iPad favorites

Current Favorite iPad Apps (from a 4, 3, and almost 1 year old)

We are pretty new to the iPad scene, but it didn't take any time at all for the girls to figure out how to use it.  Of course I was leery of them using it a lot at first because of the no screen under the age of 2 recommendation, but then I found this initial information: What Happens When a Toddler Zones Out With an iPad. Very interesting. So now I don't worry as much, but I still don't let them use it non-stop! They do love it, and actually They (and Eli) actually have more apps then I do.  So much for it being my iPad!  It really is amazing the variety of apps available to children of all ages.  I just wanted to list the current top ten used by my kids.

1) Bob Books Reading Magic (sets 1 and 2)- $1.99 each- I had looked into these books when I started working on reading with the girls. Glad I found the apps instead! The girls love the interactive aspect!

2) Little Writer - the tracing app for kids- free- There are other good writing apps out there; actually I purchased one before finding this free one. The girls prefer the free one, and it includes numbers too!

3) Timmy's Kindergarten Adventure- currently on sale for $1.99 (not sure how long that will last)- You make your own player for each person, and the game customizes the content for each players skill level.  The girls really enjoy earning coins for completing levels.

4) Rocket Speller- free- This is really geared for a little older kid (one that needs to know how to spell), but the girls love building the rockets! I suppose it is never to early to learn spelling.

5) Motion Math: Hungry Fish- free- The hungry fish eats specific numbers, so you have to add numbers together to get the one the fish eats.  It has subtraction as well for a small price.  Right now we don't do too great after the number 4, so that will be in the future.

6) Read Me Stories- free- You can get 1 free book in several collections for free, and if you like it you can buy the whole collection for $1.99 (per collection).  The girls like it because it will read to them, and some of the books have interactive aspects where you click on characters.

7) Alpha Baby- free- This app is similar to BabySmash on the computer. You hit the screen and it brings up letters and says the letter name.  But it also can do numbers, shapes, and colors. Eli loves it! If you pay for the upgrade ($.99) you can add your own voice and pictures too!

8) Sound Brush- $1.99- Here you draw whatever you want  in up to 4 instruments and then play it!  It is fun to see what a drawing of a cat sounds like!

9) Lego 4+- free- Build a lego vehicle and collect coins to earn more pieces! Even with all the pieces unlocked the girls love it!

10) Talking Tom- free- Talk to Tom and he repeats anything you say.  The girls are a little nervous about talking to him, but love to give him milk and hit him in the face. Eli thinks he is hilarious and laughs at him, which he repeats, so Eli laughs more.

These are just the current favorites, and as I find more apps I am sure they will change. Actually one of the girls favorite apps is a pony making app that you apparently can no longer get. It has completely
disappeared from the app store!
