Today I have the privilege of reviewing the Apologia book How Do We Know God is Really There? written by Melissa Cain Travis. I did receive a copy of this book free in exchange for my honest review.
I really liked how they tied the whole story together by having the father and son looking through a telescope to lead up to this discussion about the origin of the universe and ultimately the existence of God. I think it is good for kids to see healthy family relationships like this as well, and hopefully it will make them more comfortable talking to their own parents should questions arise.
The basis behind this book is a story of a young boy who, while having father son time, questions how you know God is really there. The father then uses cosmological information as well as some basic logic to explain it to his son.

The story itself was a little slow for my 4 and 5 year old. An older child would probably be much more interested in the facts presented; especially if they have had a similar experience. I think the fact that is does address a situation that will likely come up in many children's lives makes it a great discussion starter!
The book itself is very good quality As we are really just getting started with our homeschool, this is my first experience with Apologia, and I am impressed by how sturdy it is. Definitely made to last and worth the $16.00!
This book is intended to be the first in a series of picture books addressing important questions in the Christian faith. I have to say that I am eager to see what other questions are addressed by this series because it really is never too early to start explaining why you believe the way you do to your children. I think learning the reason why is what helps children make the faith their own and ultimately defend it when needed.
Apologia is well known for their science curriculum from a Christian perspective, but they have many other resources available as well. A wide variety of resources really from science and history curriculum to homeschooling books and online classes!
